Description

82 mm core drill bit for concrete, reinforced concrete and masonry

The Nozar Universal Dach is an 82 mm diamond core drill bit with a 1 1/4" UNC thread (UNC is an imperial coarse thread, the standard on concrete core drilling rigs). The bit has 8 laser-welded roof segments and is designed for concrete, reinforced concrete and masonry. The manufacturer Nozar describes it as a professional universal bit for fast, even work.

Laser-welded roof segment

The roof segment has a roof-shaped profile that shortens the path of the diamond into the material and makes it easier for the bit to enter concrete. Laser welding joins the segment to the steel tube with a strong weld that withstands the loads of drilling. Eight segments around the circumference give even cutting and gaps through which water flushes out the slurry.

Which materials

Dealers specify concrete with light to medium reinforcement and medium-hard aggregate, as well as masonry. With dense steel reinforcement the segment wears faster, so for such work choose a bit intended for reinforced concrete. If you are not sure what material you are drilling, write to us through the form.

Which drill rig it fits

The 1 1/4" UNC thread fits concrete drill rig spindles with the same thread, including hand-held and stand-mounted rigs. The full range is in the concrete core drills category. Before buying, check the spindle thread of your machine, because bits with an R 1/2" or M16 thread have a different connection.

Hand-held and stand-mounted drilling

The 82 mm bit is offered for drilling both by hand and from a stand. When drilling from a stand, stable guidance and even pressure extend segment life, and when working by hand it is worth keeping the guidance steady and not tilting the bit in the hole.

1 1/4" extensions

When the hole is deeper than the bit is long, an extension with the same thread is screwed between the spindle and the bit. We offer a 200 mm extension, a 300 mm extension and a 500 mm extension.

Choosing the diameter

The bit diameter sets the size of the hole and how much material has to be drilled out: a larger diameter needs a stronger rig and more water. Match the bit to the pipe or sleeve you will install, and find other diameters in the diamond core drill bits category.

Questions and answers

Which materials is the Nozar Universal Dach 82 mm core drill bit for?

The Nozar Universal Dach 82 mm bit is for drilling concrete, reinforced concrete and masonry. Dealers specify concrete with light to medium reinforcement and medium-hard aggregate. The bit has 8 laser-welded roof segments and a 1 1/4" UNC thread. With dense steel reinforcement the segments wear faster, so for such work choose a bit intended for reinforced concrete.

What does the 1 1/4" UNC thread mean and which rigs does the bit fit?

The 1 1/4" UNC thread is an imperial coarse thread (UNC stands for Unified National Coarse), the standard on concrete drill rigs. The 82 mm bit fits spindles with the same thread, on both hand-held and stand-mounted rigs. Bits with an R 1/2" or M16 thread have a different connection, so check the spindle thread of your own machine before buying.

What is a laser-welded roof segment?

A roof segment is a diamond segment with a roof-shaped profile that makes it easier for the bit to enter concrete and shortens the path of the diamond into the material. Laser welding joins the segment to the steel tube with a strong weld that withstands the loads of drilling. The Nozar Universal Dach 82 mm bit has 8 such segments around the circumference, and the gaps between them carry water and slurry away.

Can the 82 mm core drill bit be used hand-held?

The Nozar Universal Dach 82 mm bit is offered for drilling both by hand and from a stand. On a stand, even pressure and stable guidance extend segment life. By hand, keep the guidance steady and do not tilt the bit in the hole, because angled drilling quickly wears the segments and jams the bit in the hole.

How do I drill deeper than the bit is long?

When the hole is deeper than the bit is long, an extension with a 1 1/4" thread is screwed between the spindle and the bit. We offer extensions of 200, 300 and 500 mm. After drilling a section equal to the bit length, remove the core, screw on the extension and continue. The extension must have the same thread as the bit and the spindle, which is 1 1/4" UNC.

How do I choose the core bit diameter for a hole?

The bit diameter sets the size of the hole and how much material has to be drilled out: a larger diameter needs a stronger rig and more water. Match the bit to the pipe or sleeve you will install. The Nozar Universal Dach 82 mm bit gives an 82 mm hole, and other diameters are in the diamond core drill bits category.
