Description

Beton Trowel BT1200H35TC Ride-On Power Trowel — twin 2 × 1200 mm rotors for industrial floors

A ride-on power trowel is a machine on which the operator sits and steers two rotating blade rotors to finish setting concrete. The BT1200H35TC is driven by a twin-cylinder, air-cooled Briggs & Stratton Vanguard 35 HP petrol engine, and its two 2 × 1200 mm rotors with 10 blades in total cover a strip about 2.4 m wide in a single pass. The machine weighs 490 kg and measures 2540 × 1270 × 1360 mm — it is built for warehouses, production halls, car parks and large slabs.

Torque Clutch — smooth power transfer

The Torque Clutch is a clutch with a continuously variable CVT drive that constantly adjusts the ratio between the engine and the rotor gearboxes. The 35 HP output reaches the blades without jerks, and blade speed changes smoothly up to 180 rpm — from initial floating on pans to final finishing on blades.

Heavy-duty gearboxes with a 24-month warranty

Drive is transmitted by heavy-duty reduction gearboxes covered by a 24-month manufacturer warranty. The spiders (rotor heads carrying the blade arms) hold 5 blades each and are machined to a precision fit for the trowel arms, which limits play and wear. Grease points on the spiders keep blade pitch adjustment moving freely.

Manual steering and a clear view of the slab

The operator steers with two manual mechanical levers — there is no hydraulic system that needs separate servicing. The adjustable seat gives a good view of the blades and the fresh concrete around the machine, and 4 work lights as standard allow work in poorly lit halls and after dark.

Water spray and hour meter as standard

Standard equipment includes a water spray system for the concrete surface, an engine hour meter for planning engine and drive servicing, seat adjustment and a drink holder. All controls are within the operator's reach, so there is no need to step off the slab during finishing.

Pans and blades for 1200 mm rotors

A float pan is a round disc fitted over the blades that spreads the machine's weight and closes the pores of wet concrete at the early stage. The BT1200H35TC works with five-blade pans with security pins and with finish, combination, wide finish and plastic blades. The 35 HP engine has plenty of power for heavy pan floating.

Transport and loading on site

The 490 kg machine has 4 crane sling lifting points and fork pockets for loading with a forklift. An optional two-wheel transporter makes it easier to move the trowel around the site and to change blades.

Manual or hydraulic steering?

Both Beton Trowel ride-on trowels with 2 × 1200 mm rotors differ in steering. The BT1200H35TC has mechanical levers, a 35 HP engine and weighs 490 kg — a simpler design with lower running costs. The BT1200HH37TC hydraulic ride-on trowel has hydraulic steering, a 37 HP engine and weighs 540 kg, which reduces operator effort during long shifts.

2 × 1200 mm or 2 × 900 mm rotors?

1200 mm rotors cover a strip of about 2.4 m per pass and 900 mm rotors about 1.8 m, so on a large floor the BT1200H35TC needs fewer passes. The smaller Beton Trowel BT900H24TC ride-on trowel with a Honda GX 690 engine (22 HP) weighs 315 kg and is easier to transport to medium-sized floors.

Questions and answers

What is the Beton Trowel BT1200H35TC ride-on power trowel?

The Beton Trowel BT1200H35TC ride-on power trowel is a machine for mechanically finishing fresh concrete floors, on which the operator sits and steers two 1200 mm rotors with 10 blades. It is driven by a twin-cylinder, air-cooled Briggs & Stratton Vanguard 35 HP petrol engine, and the blades turn at up to 180 rpm. The machine weighs 490 kg and covers a strip about 2.4 m wide per pass, so it is used on industrial floors in halls, warehouses and car parks.

When should concrete be finished with a ride-on trowel?

Finishing concrete with a ride-on trowel usually starts 4–12 hours after pouring, once surface water has evaporated and the slab can carry the machine with its operator. The moment is checked with a footprint test: an imprint a few millimetres deep means the pans can go on. With a 490 kg machine such as the BT1200H35TC it is better to wait for a shallower imprint than with a light walk-behind trowel. Read more in our guide when to trowel concrete and which trowel to use.

What is the best way to finish a large concrete floor?

Large industrial floors are best finished with a twin-rotor ride-on trowel, because it covers a strip several times wider than a walk-behind machine. The BT1200H35TC with 2 × 1200 mm rotors covers about 2.4 m per pass, while a single 1200 mm walk-behind trowel covers about 1.2 m and has to be pushed by the operator. The seated operator guides the blades evenly through the whole shift, so the floor reaches a uniform finish faster. Walk-behind trowels remain useful along edges, around columns and in smaller rooms.

How does the Torque Clutch work in the BT1200H35TC trowel?

The Torque Clutch in the BT1200H35TC trowel works as a continuously variable CVT drive that constantly changes the ratio between the engine and the rotor gearboxes. As a result, the 35 HP output reaches the blades smoothly, without jerks when starting or when the load changes. The operator adjusts blade speed up to 180 rpm — lower speeds are used for pan floating and higher speeds for the final finish.

What is the difference between the BT1200H35TC and the hydraulic BT1200HH37TC?

The BT1200H35TC and BT1200HH37TC trowels both have 2 × 1200 mm rotors, but they differ in steering, engine and weight. The BT1200H35TC has mechanical lever steering, a Vanguard 35 HP engine and weighs 490 kg, which means a simpler design and lower running costs. The BT1200HH37TC hydraulic ride-on trowel has hydraulic steering, a 37 HP engine and weighs 540 kg — it needs less operator effort during long finishing shifts.

Which blades and pans fit a 2 × 1200 mm power trowel?

The Beton Trowel BT1200H35TC works with five-blade float pans with security pins and with four blade types: finish, combination, wide finish and plastic. Each of the two 1200 mm rotors carries 5 blades, so a full set for the machine is 10 blades. Pans are used at the early stage while the concrete is still wet, and combination and finish blades for the final finish. Plastic blades reduce dark burn marks on decorative floors.

How is a 490 kg ride-on power trowel transported?

The 490 kg Beton Trowel BT1200H35TC ride-on trowel is moved with a crane or a forklift. The machine has 4 crane sling lifting points and fork pockets for loading onto a vehicle. Its dimensions of 2540 × 1270 × 1360 mm allow transport on a typical trailer or truck bed. On site it is moved on an optional two-wheel transporter, which also makes blade changes easier.
