Description
Fogo F 7001 TRE petrol generator – 6.2 kW with electric start, AVR and a 45 l tank
Fogo F 7001 TRE is the top-specification version of the F 7001 family: a single-phase petrol generator running at 230 V with 6.2 kW maximum and 5.6 kW rated output, powered by a Rato R420 engine, with automatic voltage regulation of AVR +/-2 %, an electric starter with a battery included as standard and a 45 l fuel tank. The rated current of 24.3 A is available from a single 32 A socket, and the 790 x 580 x 650 mm frame weighing 95 kg fits on the load bed of a van. It is built for construction sites, workshops and backup power where the machine has to run for many hours and start without pulling a cord.
Electric start with a battery, manual start as a back-up
The engine is started by an electric starter powered by a battery that is part of the standard equipment, so you start the engine without pulling a cord. Manual start remains as a back-up if the battery is flat. The power unit is a single-cylinder, four-stroke petrol engine of 420 cm³, air-cooled, with a 1.1 l oil sump and an oil level sensor that stops the engine before it runs too low on oil. If you do not need the starter and prefer a lower weight (85 kg), choose the manual-start version – the Fogo F 7001 TR.
45 l tank and up to 15.5 hours of running
The 45 l fuel tank and a consumption of 2.9 l/h (75 % load) give up to 15.5 h of running without refuelling – a full working shift with a reserve, or many hours of emergency power without topping up. By comparison, the versions with the small integrated 6.5 l tank (Fogo F 7001 and F 7001 R) run for about 2 hours 15 minutes. At lower load the consumption drops and the run time grows.
AVR +/-2 % – what you can connect
The electronic AVR regulator keeps the voltage within +/-2 %, and the total harmonic distortion stays at or below 6 %. The version without AVR works with a tolerance of +5 / -10 % (207 to 241 V), so for boiler controllers, computers and measuring equipment a generator with stabilisation such as the F 7001 TRE is the safer choice. The alternator has insulation class H, protection rating IP 23 and allows a starting current of 300 % of the rated value.
Two sockets and full power from one 32 A
The panel has a 230 V 16 A socket and a 230 V 32 A socket, from which you can take the full output through a single cable without splitting the load into two circuits. The overload protection cuts the supply when the current exceeds the permitted value. Match the load to the rated 5.6 kW, not the maximum 6.2 kW: induction motors (pumps, concrete mixers, compressors) draw 3-5 times more current at start-up than in steady running.
38 mm frame, transport and exhaust routing
The structure is an open tubular frame with a 38 mm profile that protects the engine and alternator while leaving access to the air filter and spark plug. The dimensions of 790 x 580 x 650 mm and the weight of 95 kg – 10 kg more than the F 7001 TR – call for two people to carry it; around the site it is easier to move on the Fogo ZT300-38 transport set, designed for generators with a 45 l tank. The silencer has a connection for an exhaust hose, and the 2.5 m, 50 mm exhaust hose is sold separately. The sound power level is 99 dB(A).
Service and optional equipment
For this model the manufacturer offers an hour meter that fits on the ignition coil and helps you keep to service intervals, and a service kit with an air filter, spark plug and engine oil for the R 420 engine with electric start. The generator meets Directives 2006/42/EC (Machinery), 2014/35/EU (Low Voltage) and 2014/30/EU (Electromagnetic Compatibility).

Questions and answers
What is the difference between the Fogo F 7001 TRE and the F 7001 TR?
Both models share the same Rato R420 engine of 420 cm³, automatic AVR regulation of +/-2 %, a 45 l tank and the same output: 6.2 kW maximum and 5.6 kW rated at 24.3 A. The F 7001 TRE adds an electric starter with a battery included as standard, so it weighs 95 kg, while the manual-start F 7001 TR weighs 85 kg. The dimensions are identical: 790 x 580 x 650 mm. Choose the TRE for a generator that is started often or by people who find manual starting difficult, and the TR when you do not need a starter.
Can the Fogo F 7001 TRE generator be started manually?
The Fogo F 7001 TRE has two starting systems: electric and manual. The starter, powered by a battery that is part of the standard equipment, turns over the single-cylinder Rato R420 engine of 420 cm³ without effort, and manual start remains as a back-up if the battery goes flat. Check the oil level in the 1.1 l sump before every start - the oil level sensor stops the engine when the level is too low, but it does not replace the check.
How long does the Fogo F 7001 TRE run on one tank?
The Fogo F 7001 TRE tank holds 45 l of petrol and consumption at 75 % load is 2.9 l/h, which gives up to 15.5 hours of running without refuelling. At lower load the generator burns less and runs longer. By comparison, the F 7001 and F 7001 R versions with the integrated 6.5 l tank run for about 2 hours 15 minutes, so the TRE suits a full working shift and many hours of emergency power.
Can I connect electronics to a generator with AVR?
The Fogo F 7001 TRE has an AVR regulator that keeps the voltage within +/-2 %, with distortion not exceeding 6 % THD. By comparison, a generator without AVR works with a tolerance of +5 / -10 %, that is between 207 and 241 V. Thanks to the stabilisation it is safer to power boiler controllers, computers, chargers and measuring equipment. Check the requirements of the most sensitive devices in their manuals; electronics with special requirements are often powered from inverter generators.
What loads can a generator with a rated output of 5.6 kW power?
The Fogo F 7001 TRE powers loads whose total output does not exceed 5.6 kW (24.3 A at 230 V); the maximum of 6.2 kW is only for short overloads. Induction motors, such as pumps, concrete mixers and compressors, draw 3-5 times more current at start-up than in steady running, so the largest such load should be rated at about 1.1-1.9 kW. The 32 A socket delivers the full output, and the 16 A socket serves smaller devices.
Can the Fogo F 7001 TRE be connected to a home installation?
A generator must not be plugged into a wall socket. A home installation is powered through a mains-generator changeover switch or a dedicated inlet fitted by a qualified electrician, which prevents back-feeding the grid and running the grid and the generator at the same time. The Fogo F 7001 TRE delivers 5.6 kW rated, that is 24.3 A at 230 V, and the 45 l tank lasts about 15.5 hours of emergency power at 75 % load. AVR stabilisation of +/-2 % makes it easier to power a boiler controller and circulation pumps.
Can the Fogo F 7001 TRE be used in a garage or workshop?
Petrol engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is odourless and toxic, so the generator must run outdoors or in a well-ventilated place, never in an enclosed room. The silencer of the Fogo F 7001 TRE has a connection for an exhaust hose, and a 2.5 m, 50 mm hose routes the exhaust away from the work area, but it does not replace ventilation. The sound power level is 99 dB(A), so use hearing protection during continuous work.
What accessories fit the Fogo F 7001 TRE generator?
The manufacturer offers four items for this model. The Fogo ZT300-38 transport set with wheels and a handle is designed for generators with a 45 l tank and makes it easier to move the 95 kg machine. The exhaust hose is 2.5 m long and 50 mm in diameter. The hour meter for the ignition coil helps you keep to service intervals, and the service kit contains an air filter, spark plug and engine oil for the R 420 engine with electric start.
