Description
Low-suction flange – pumping water down to a low residual level
The low-suction flange for Wacker Neuson and Evak pumps is an attachment fitted in place of the standard base of a submersible pump, moving the intake point to just above the ground. As a result the pump does not stop at a water column of a dozen or so centimetres, but draws liquid off a flat surface down to a thin residual layer.
Where it earns its keep
Typical uses are finishing off the drainage of an excavation, emptying a flooded warehouse floor and cleaning up after a plumbing failure. In these situations an ordinary submersible pump leaves a layer of water that has to be removed by hand, while the flange lets the same machine finish the job.
No modification to the pump
The part is fitted and removed with tools in a few minutes, with no changes to the hydraulic system and no effect on the pump warranty. The same machine therefore works in two modes: standard for high-flow dewatering and low-suction for collecting the remaining water.

What is a low-suction flange for a submersible pump?
A low-suction flange is an attachment fitted in place of the standard base of a submersible pump, moving the intake point directly above the ground. A standard pump stops working once the water level drops below the inlet height, leaving a dozen or so centimetres of liquid behind. The flange allows water to be drawn off a flat surface down to a thin residual layer, so a single machine handles both bulk dewatering and the final drying stage.
Which pumps does this flange fit?
The flange is intended for Wacker Neuson submersible pumps in the PST2 series and for Evak pumps of similar body construction. Fitment depends on the diameter and mounting pattern of the base, so it is worth stating the exact pump model when ordering. What is the difference between a low-suction flange and a standard submersible pump?
A standard submersible pump draws water through openings in the base positioned several to a dozen centimetres above the bottom, which protects the impeller from drawing in sediment at high flow rates. A low-suction flange lowers that point at the cost of some flow, so the pump works more slowly but reaches a far lower water level. In practice the work is done in two stages: standard first, then with the flange fitted at the end.
Does fitting the flange affect the pump warranty?
Fitting the flange means replacing the factory base with a component serving the same function, without interfering with the hydraulic or electrical system of the pump. The operation takes a few minutes and is fully reversible, so the pump can be returned to its standard configuration at any time. Warranty conditions are preserved provided the component specified for the given pump family is used and fitted in line with the manufacturer instructions.
