Description

Toolsa DSB250-30 concrete core drill with stand – brushless 3000 W, holes up to 250 mm

Toolsa DSB250-30 is a complete diamond core drill rig for concrete, made up of the brushless DDB 30 motor rated at 3000 W and the DS 250 stand. The set wet-drills holes up to 250 mm in diameter in concrete, reinforced concrete and brick – for service penetrations, ventilation ducts, air conditioning or anchor holes. Both Toolsa components are matched to each other, so the rig is ready to work as soon as it is assembled.

What is in the set

Toolsa DDB 30 motor: 3000 W, 3 speeds 620 | 1330 | 2680 rpm, 40 Nm torque, 6.4 kg, 1 1/4" UNC thread. Toolsa DS 250 stand: 900 mm column, 600 mm travel, 400 × 230 mm base, 16.5 kg, core bits up to 252 mm. Core bits are sold separately for the diameters you need.

Why a stand-mounted core drill

The stand keeps the motor on a fixed axis while the operator feeds it with a rack-and-pinion handle. The hole comes out with straight walls and an accurate angle, and the core bit does not wander at the start. For diameters above roughly 80–100 mm, handheld drilling is tiring and risky – the stand transfers the torque reaction to the floor instead of the operator's hands.

Brushless motor and three speeds

A brushless motor has no carbon brushes to replace, runs cooler and, according to the manufacturer, cuts 25% more efficiently than a brushed design. Gear 1 (620 rpm) is for holes up to 200 mm in concrete and 250 mm in brick, gear 2 for up to 100/130 mm and gear 3 for up to 60/80 mm. The electronic clutch provides a soft start and the mechanical clutch disengages the drive when the bit jams in rebar.

DSB250-30 or DS220-22?

Both sets use the same DS 250 stand. The Toolsa DS220-22 has a brushed 2200 W DD 22 motor with a range up to 220 mm. The DSB250-30 gives 800 W more, reaches 250 mm and its motor is about 3 kg lighter. For holes up to 400 mm, choose the Toolsa DS400-33 core drill.

To fix the stand without expansion anchors, add the Toolsa VP 120 vacuum pump. Other sets are in the complete core drills category.

Questions and answers

What is included in the Toolsa DSB250-30 set?

The Toolsa DSB250-30 set consists of the brushless Toolsa DDB 30 core drill motor (3000 W, 3 speeds, 6.4 kg) and the Toolsa DS 250 stand (900 mm column, 600 mm travel, 16.5 kg). Core bits and a vacuum pump are not included – they are chosen separately for the hole diameters and the way the stand is fixed.

What holes can the Toolsa DSB250-30 core drill make?

The Toolsa DSB250-30 core drill wet-drills holes up to 250 mm in diameter. According to the motor manufacturer, the recommended ranges are up to 200 mm in concrete and 250 mm in brick in first gear, up to 100/130 mm in second and up to 60/80 mm in third. The DS 250 stand handles core bits up to 252 mm.

What speed should I use to drill concrete with a stand-mounted core drill?

Core drill speed is matched to the bit diameter. On the Toolsa DSB250-30, large holes up to 200 mm in concrete are drilled in gear 1 (620 rpm), medium ones up to 100 mm in gear 2 (1330 rpm) and small ones up to 60 mm in gear 3 (2680 rpm). Lower speed with a large bit protects the diamond segments from overheating.

How do I fix a core drill stand?

The Toolsa DS 250 stand is fixed to the surface with an expansion anchor through the slot in its 400 × 230 mm base, or with a suction plate and a vacuum pump such as the Toolsa VP 120. Vacuum fixing needs no extra hole but requires a smooth, airtight surface. When drilling into a ceiling or wall, an anchor is normally used.

Does diamond core drilling have to be done wet?

The Toolsa DSB250-30 stand-mounted drill is set up for wet drilling: the DDB 30 motor has a G 1/4" water connection that feeds cooling to the core bit. Water cools the diamond segments, flushes out the slurry and binds the dust. Core bits for reinforced concrete of 100–250 mm are practically always used wet.

What is the difference between the Toolsa DSB250-30 and DS220-22?

Both Toolsa sets use the same DS 250 stand. The DSB250-30 has a brushless 3000 W DDB 30 motor with a range up to 250 mm, while the DS220-22 has a brushed 2200 W DD 22 motor with a range up to 220 mm. The DDB 30 motor weighs 6.4 kg, about 3 kg less than the DD 22.
