Husqvarna ELITE-GRIND EZ T-REX Super PCD segment – for stripping strongly bonded coatings

The Husqvarna ELITE-GRIND EZ T-REX Super carries PCD claws (polycrystalline diamond) for removing coatings that an ordinary diamond segment cannot lift: epoxy resins, thick adhesives, paints and screeds. The block has 5 PCD claws and runs through the EZchange connector, dry. A PCD claw does not abrade the coating the way diamond does – it undercuts the layer and tears it off the substrate, which is why it handles elastic materials that clog a conventional segment. Supplied as a set of 3.

How a PCD claw works

PCD is a sintered diamond plate set at an angle to the floor. Instead of grinding, it levers the layer up and rips it away. With adhesives and resins this is the only effective mechanical method – an elastic material under a diamond segment melts and glazes the diamond rather than wearing down.

Surface left behind

The Super version leaves a moderately to heavily scratched surface. That is the state you want before laying new resin or flooring – open, rough concrete gives adhesion. If the floor is to be polished, the T-REX pass is followed by metal-bond segments and then resin pads.

Super or Classic

These are two levels of aggression. Super has 5 PCD claws and takes on coatings strongly bonded to the substrate: epoxy, thick adhesives, screeds. Classic has a double claw and is meant for soft contaminants – carpet glue, thin paints and levelling compounds. Classic would be too slow on thick epoxy, while Super would needlessly scar the concrete under a thin adhesive.

Protective segment

This version includes a protective segment alongside the PCD claws. It limits how deep the claw digs in and steadies the block, protecting the concrete from gouging and reducing machine judder. When stripping coatings off a thin screed, it decides whether an even substrate is left underneath.

EZchange mounting

The segment locks into the disc socket without a key and without adapter plates. It runs on Husqvarna grinders using this system – PG 280, PG 400 and PG 450. Machines in the older Redi Lock version need a conversion kit.

Fitting and extraction

A set of 3 is the working minimum; 6 pieces give even pressure and smoother running over larger areas. Coating removal is a dry process and the stripped material has to be collected by an industrial vacuum – otherwise it travels back under the block and jams the claws.
