Husqvarna VARI-GRIND EZ M25 diamond segment – for medium-hard concrete, EZchange connector
The Husqvarna VARI-GRIND EZ M25 is a metal-bond diamond grinding segment mounted directly in the disc of a concrete floor grinder. The block carries two working segments 11 mm high with grit 25, and locks into the disc through the EZchange connector – no screws, no adapter plates. It is designed for concrete rated 3 to 5 on the Mohs scale, which covers typical industrial slabs and screeds that need opening, levelling or preparing for a further coat. Supplied as a set of 3.
Substrate hardness and bond choice
The letter M marks a bond matched to medium-hard concrete (3–5 Mohs). The VARI-GRIND EZ range also covers soft and hard concrete, and the rule is the opposite of what intuition suggests: the harder the substrate, the softer the bond, because the diamond has to keep exposing itself. A wrongly matched segment either glazes over and stops cutting, or wears out within hours.
Grit 25 – coarse grinding
Grit 25 is a coarse grain for the first pass: removing cement laitance, levelling out unevenness and opening the pores of the concrete. The range also offers grit 50 and 100 for the passes that follow. The higher the number, the finer the grain and the smoother the finish left behind.
EZchange mounting
EZchange is Husqvarna's quick tool-change system – the segment slides into the disc socket and locks without a key. Machines running this system include the Husqvarna PG 280 floor grinder, PG 400 and PG 450. Older machines with Redi Lock mounting need a conversion kit to EZchange.
How many per disc
A set of 3 is the minimum needed to start work. A 6-piece fit, meaning two sets, spreads the pressure more evenly, runs the machine more smoothly and doubles the time to replacement – which is why it is recommended for larger areas. Segments wear unevenly, so they are replaced as a full set rather than one at a time.
Dry operation
The segment works dry, paired with an industrial vacuum of adequate capacity. Grinding concrete without extraction produces silica dust and sharply shortens diamond life, because the debris starts acting as an extra abrasive between the segment and the slab.
When to choose a metal-bond segment
Metal-bond segments such as the VARI-GRIND EZ M25 handle the removal and levelling stage. Polishing and gloss are the job of resin pads with grits from 50 upwards. A full floor treatment usually takes 3 to 5 passes: from grit 25 in metal to several hundred grit in resin.

Does the VARI-GRIND EZ M25 segment fit the Husqvarna PG 280 grinder?
Yes. The segment uses the EZchange connector and the current version of the Husqvarna PG 280 floor grinder runs exactly this system — the manufacturer lists EZ tools as accessories for that machine. PG 400 and PG 450 also use EZchange. Older PG 280 units were sometimes built with Redi Lock mounting; those need a conversion kit to EZchange or Redi Lock segments instead.
