Description

Husqvarna VARI-GRIND EZ T-REX Classic PCD segment – for glue and thin coating removal

The Husqvarna VARI-GRIND EZ T-REX Classic combines a double PCD claw (polycrystalline diamond) with a protective segment and is built for stripping soft contaminants off concrete floors: carpet and tile adhesive, vinyl glue, levelling compounds, paints and thin epoxy coatings. The block handles layers both below 1 mm and in the 1–3 mm range, mounts through the EZchange connector and works dry. Supplied as a set of 3.

What it removes

Carpet and PVC flooring adhesive, ceramic tile adhesive, vinyl glue, paints, levelling compounds and thin epoxy coatings. These are exactly the materials that heat up under an ordinary diamond segment and glaze the diamond instead of abrading – the PCD claw undercuts them and lifts them off the concrete.

Classic or Super

The Classic version has a double PCD claw matched to soft contaminants. The stronger ELITE-GRIND EZ T-REX Super has 5 claws and takes coatings strongly bonded to the substrate – thick epoxy, screeds, hard adhesives. For ordinary residue left after carpet, Classic is enough and scars the concrete less.

What the protective segment does

Next to the PCD claws the block carries a protective segment that limits how deep the claw enters the substrate. The tool lifts the adhesive layer without gouging the concrete or cutting straight through a thin screed. When refurbishing a floor for new flooring, this is what keeps the substrate even.

EZchange mounting

The segment slides into the disc socket without a key. It runs on Husqvarna grinders using this system: PG 280, PG 400 and PG 450. Older units with Redi Lock mounting need a conversion kit to EZchange.

Fitting the disc

A set of 3 lets you start work, 6 pieces spread the pressure evenly and extend the time to replacement. When stripping adhesive an even fit matters in practice: too few segments and the machine bounces over the remaining layer.

Dry work with extraction

The tool works dry. Stripped adhesive comes off as shavings and shreds that must be collected as you go by an industrial vacuum – debris left on the floor travels back under the block and jams the claws, and thermoplastic adhesive can smear itself across the slab again.

Does the VARI-GRIND EZ T-REX Classic fit the Husqvarna PG 280 grinder?

Yes. The segment uses the EZchange connector fitted to the current Husqvarna PG 280 floor grinder, as well as to PG 400 and PG 450. Older PG 280 units were sometimes built with Redi Lock mounting and need a conversion kit to EZchange.
