Description
Tyrolit DRA150 core drill stand – core drilling Ø 20–152 mm, 9.5 kg
A core drill stand (drill rig) is a frame with a guide rail and a carriage that feeds the core drilling motor into the material straight and under steady pressure from the hand crank. The Tyrolit DRA150 is a compact stand for electrical and installation work: it drills holes from 20 to 152 mm in diameter in concrete, masonry and stone, takes core bits up to 550 mm long and tilts between 90° and 45°. It weighs 9.5 kg without the hand crank and measures 330 × 240 × 950 mm. The motor, the core bit and the anchoring parts are not included.
Ø 60 mm motor collar
The motor is held in a 60 mm clamping collar on the carriage, which runs along the guide rail. Tyrolit pairs the DRA150 in one system with the Tyrolit DME22SU core drill rated at 2.2 kW. With a motor from another brand, check the neck diameter before ordering: the stand's collar takes Ø 60 mm, and the stand limits the working range to 20–152 mm core bits even if the motor itself handles larger ones.
Angled drilling from 90° to 45°
The column tilts from vertical down to 45°, and the angle indicator shows the setting without extra measuring. At a 45° tilt the manufacturer's manual limits the core bit diameter to 122 mm, instead of 152 mm when vertical. Angled drilling is useful for service penetrations running diagonally through a slab or wall, for example for drains and cable passages. The core bit length stays the same, up to 550 mm.
Anchor or vacuum plate
The aluminium base of the stand is fixed to the surface with a dowel suited to the material. In the DRA150 system Tyrolit provides the Tyrolit anchor kit and a hammer drill with a 16 mm bit for the anchor hole. Optionally the stand sits on the vacuum plate for the DRA150 with a pump and a 3 m hose: the diameter range stays the same, 20–152 mm, and no anchor hole is left in the floor. The plate needs a smooth, non-porous surface.
Centre indicator, spirit levels and adjustable feet
The retractable centre indicator places the core bit axis over the marked point before the base is anchored. Spirit levels and feet adjusted with M12 bolts let you level the stand on uneven ground, and the depth and angle scale on the guide rail shows drilling progress. A brake locks the motor carriage on the rail, and a bow-type handle is used to carry the stand.
Hand crank feed and adjustable guide
Feed is applied with the hand crank, which the manual says to hold with both hands throughout drilling. The carriage runs on interchangeable sliding guides with play adjustment. When the core bit starts to drift off axis or its tube wears heavily, the Tyrolit manual points to play in the sliding guides: it is removed by adjustment, and a damaged guide is replaced with a new one.
Simple care and maintenance
Before start-up, loose screws are tightened and the sliding guide is checked. After work the stand is washed down with water and the column teeth are cleaned and lubricated, and the threads of the adjustable feet are lubricated once a week. Feed that jams along the whole rail means the guide locking is too tight, while jamming at one point means a bent or damaged rail, which Tyrolit service should assess.
Tyrolit DRA150 or DRA400 MkII?
Both stands come from the Tyrolit range, but they cover different hole sizes. The DRA150 is built for installation work and holes up to 152 mm, while the Tyrolit DRA400 MkII drill stand handles core holes from 50 to 300 mm.

Questions and answers
What hole diameter can the Tyrolit DRA150 core drill stand drill?
The Tyrolit DRA150 stand drills core holes from 20 to 152 mm in diameter in concrete, masonry and stone. The same range applies with dowel anchoring and on the vacuum plate. The maximum core bit length is 550 mm, and with the column tilted to 45° the largest diameter drops to 122 mm. The 20–152 mm range covers penetrations for single cables and service pipes up to holes for Ø 110 mm sewer pipes. For larger diameters Tyrolit offers heavier stands, for example the Tyrolit DRA400 MkII for holes from 50 to 300 mm.
Which core drill fits the Tyrolit DRA150 stand?
The DRA150 stand holds the motor in a 60 mm clamping collar. Tyrolit pairs it in one system with the Tyrolit DME22SU core drill rated at 2.2 kW, which works wet and dry. With a motor from another brand, check the neck diameter in the motor's technical data before ordering, because the stand's collar is made for 60 mm. The stand limits the working range to core bits of 20–152 mm in diameter and up to 550 mm long, even if the motor itself handles larger bits.
Can the Tyrolit DRA150 stand drill at an angle?
The Tyrolit DRA150 drills at angles from 90° to 45°, and the angle indicator shows the column setting without extra measuring. At a 45° tilt the manufacturer's manual limits the core bit diameter to 122 mm, instead of 152 mm when vertical. Angled drilling is used for service penetrations running diagonally through a slab or wall, for example for drains and cable passages. The maximum core bit length stays the same, 550 mm. Before drilling at an angle, lock the column in position and check how the stand base is fixed.
How do I fix the DRA150 core drill stand to the surface?
The DRA150 has an aluminium base anchored to the surface, with a vacuum plate as an option. For anchoring, use a dowel suited to the material and set it according to the dowel manufacturer's instructions. In the system Tyrolit provides the Tyrolit anchor kit and a hammer drill with a 16 mm bit. The vacuum plate for the DRA150, used with a pump and a 3 m hose, fixes the stand without an anchor hole but needs a smooth, non-porous surface. Both options give the same 20–152 mm range. According to the manual, a core bit that jams in the hole can be caused by inadequate anchoring.
How much does the Tyrolit DRA150 stand weigh?
The Tyrolit DRA150 stand weighs 9.5 kg without the hand crank and measures 330 × 240 × 950 mm (length × width × height). One person carries it by the bow-type handle, and the manual says to carry it only by this handle and never with the motor running. Add the motor to the stand weight: the Tyrolit DME22SU weighs 6 kg, so the working set without a core bit comes to about 15.5 kg. For comparison, the larger Tyrolit DRA400 MkII stand weighs 18.7 kg and handles holes up to 300 mm.
How does drilling with a stand differ from hand-held core drilling?
A stand guides the core bit along a rail, so the hole axis stays the same through the full drilling depth, and the feed crank applies the pressure instead of the operator's arms. In hand-held drilling the operator takes the vibration and the motor torque, and a jammed core bit jerks the machine. The Tyrolit DRA150 gives repeatable holes of 20–152 mm in diameter, also at angles down to 45°, with core bits up to 550 mm long. The retractable centre indicator places the bit axis over the marked point before drilling, and the spirit levels and adjustable feet level the stand.
How do I maintain the Tyrolit DRA150 core drill stand?
The Tyrolit DRA150 manual sets three service intervals. Before every start-up, tighten loose screws and nuts and check the carriage's sliding guide, adjusting it if there is play. After work, wash the stand down with water and clean and lubricate the column teeth. Once a week, lubricate the threads of the adjustable feet with M12 bolts. A sliding guide damaged in a fault is replaced with a new one, and a bent guide rail should be assessed by Tyrolit service. Store the stand in a dry room, not outdoors.
Why does the core bit drift off axis when drilling from a stand?
The Tyrolit DRA150 manual gives two causes of diamond core bit drift: inadequate anchoring of the guide rail or stand base, and excessive play in the carriage's sliding guides. With weak anchoring, loosen and extract the core bit, break up the core and correct the stand anchoring; with play, adjust the sliding guides. Worn segments that no longer cut freely mean the core bit must be replaced. Poor concentricity is solved by fitting a new core bit. The stand takes core bits of 20–152 mm in diameter and up to 550 mm long, so on longer holes check the guide adjustment before every start-up.
