How do soil compactors work?

These are devices controlled manually or by radio with a remote control, equipped with an internal combustion engine, less often electric, and a special vibrating plate. When it is set into vibratory motion by a vibrator (a rotating weight placed in a special housing), the vibrations it creates are transferred to the soil, gradually compacting it. The work of the device is very much influenced by the power of the motor and the vibration force expressed in (kN), as well as the size and weight of the device itself. Compactors with the highest power and weight allow the compaction of thicker layers of soil and aggregate of a larger fraction . They are therefore used for larger projects, such as road construction. The compactor is controlled by a special handle - a drawbar. Changing the direction of the compactor, contrary to appearances, is not difficult. When the device is working and producing vibration, it is very easy to push, pull or turn it, and in reversible compactors you control with a special handle where you switch the forward and reverse movement.

Soil compactors and their division
