Kit: Nivel System CL4R LCD crossline laser (red) + LP-36 Spreader Pole
A ready-made kit for suspended ceilings and drywall installation. The Nivel System CL4R LCD 4×360° crossline laser with a red 638 nm beam projects 2 horizontal and 2 vertical planes with ±2.0 mm accuracy at 10 m, has a 30 m range (70 m with a sensor), an LCD display and an 8000 mAh battery. The manufacturer adds the LP-36 Spreader Pole to the kit.
What is in the kit
The kit contains the Nivel System CL4R LCD crossline laser in its transport case plus the LP-36 spreader pole. The laser case also holds a TR-W target plate, two FTR-W floor targets, a CL-BR multi-adapter, an LF-1 lift, an Aku CL 8000 battery and a USB-C charger. Glasses are not included. With a red beam, GL-R glasses are useful. Buying the kit gives you components the manufacturer has matched to the CL4 LCD series.
LP-36 spreader pole
The aluminium LP-36 pole braces between floor and ceiling and extends to 3.6 m. With the laser mounted on the pole you set it at the chosen height without a tripod taking up floor space, which makes installing suspended ceilings, drywall framing and wall cabinets easier. The pole needs no drilling and moves from room to room in seconds.
The CL4R LCD laser in numbers
The CL4R LCD projects 4 planes of 360° (2 horizontal and 2 vertical) with a class 2 red 638 nm beam. Accuracy is ±2.0 mm at 10 m, working range 30 m, and 70 m with a sensor. The magnetic compensator levels the lines within ±3.0° and beeps when the laser is out of level. The 8000 mAh battery charges over USB-C in about 4 h, the housing is IP54 and the laser weighs 920 g. The LCD display shows the active planes and battery status.
What is new in the CL4 LCD series
Compared with the previous CL4, five things have changed. The top of the housing carries an LCD display showing the active planes, battery level and out-of-level status. Battery capacity has grown from 4000 to 8000 mAh. The laser gives an audible warning when it is outside the ±3.0° compensator range. A violet-beam CL4V LCD has joined the series. The glasses are no longer in the case, which now has room for an optional sensor with a bracket.
±3.0° compensator and slope mode
The magnetic compensator self-levels the lines within ±3.0°. When the laser stands too far off level, all active planes flash quickly and a beeper sounds. To mark lines at an angle, for example stairs or attic slopes, hold the LASER button for about 3 s with the power switch off: the pendulum is locked and the line blinks every 6–7 s as a reminder that self-levelling is disabled. Always transport the laser with the compensator locked.
8000 mAh battery, USB-C, app
The 3.7 V / 8000 mAh Li-ion battery charges through a USB-C socket in about 4 hours, also while the laser is running, and doubles as a power bank for a phone. The laser connects over Bluetooth to the NIVEL CL app for Android and iOS, where you switch planes and modes. The IP54 housing protects against dust and water splashes, and the operating temperature range is -10 °C to +50 °C. The laser weighs 920 g, measures 148 × 90 × 151 mm and has 1/4″ and 5/8″ mounting sockets.

Which CL4R LCD kit should I choose?
The CL4R LCD kit is chosen for the type of work. The kit with the LP-36 pole (3.6 m spreader pole) is for suspended ceilings and drywall. The kit with the SJJ-M1 EX tripod (0.62–1.82 m) suits interior work at different heights. For halls and outdoor work, where the line is invisible, choose the kit with the tripod and CLS-5 sensor with LED readings or with the tripod and CLS-300 DIGITAL sensor with a millimetre readout. With a sensor the range grows from 30 to 70 m.
What is the difference between the CLS-5 and CLS-300 DIGITAL sensors?
The CLS-5 and CLS-300 DIGITAL sensors both pick up a 10 kHz beam in four colours and extend the laser range to 70 m, but they show the line position differently. The CLS-5 indicates it with LEDs and a beeper to 1.0 mm, weighs 0.15 kg and runs on 2 AAA batteries. The CLS-300 DIGITAL has a display showing the distance from zero in a 70 mm window, three accuracy modes of 1.0, 2.0 and 5.0 mm, weighs 0.3 kg and runs on 4 AAA batteries.
What is the LP-36 spreader pole used for?
The LP-36 spreader pole is an aluminium mast with a maximum length of 3.6 m that braces between floor and ceiling and holds the laser at the chosen height. It replaces a tripod where free floor space matters: installing suspended ceilings, plasterboard framing and wall cabinets. The pole needs no drilling and moves between rooms in seconds.
Which tripod is in the kit and how high will it raise the laser?
Kits 2, 3 and 4 include the Nivel System SJJ-M1 EX tripod, weighing about 3 kg, with a 3D head and height adjustment from 0.62 to 1.82 m.
