Description

Nivel System CLS-300 DIGITAL laser sensor – digital receiver for cross-line lasers

The Nivel System CLS-300 DIGITAL is a laser sensor (receiver, detector) for professional cross-line lasers that lets you work with the laser even where the beam is invisible to the naked eye – outdoors, in bright light and over longer distances. The digital display precisely shows the laser line position relative to the sensor, so you can set the level quickly and accurately. The device receives beams in four colours: red, green, blue and violet, so it works with a wide range of line and cross-line lasers.

Which lasers the CLS-300 works with and how it works

The CLS-300 DIGITAL works with cross-line lasers with a 10 kHz pulse frequency (series from 2022 onwards). The sensor detects the beam within a 70 mm window, signals the line position with sound and on the display, and lets you set the reading accuracy in three modes: 1.0 / 2.0 / 5.0 mm. The ±45° beam reception angle makes it easy to catch the signal even when the receiver is not perfectly aligned on the staff.

Power supply, protection and fieldwork

The compact housing measuring 155 x 75 x 30 mm and weighing 0.3 kg fits in your hand and mounts on a staff. It is powered by 4 AAA batteries, and an automatic shut-off after 10 minutes of inactivity saves energy. The IP54 protection class guards against dust and splashes, and the operating temperature range from -20°C to 50°C allows year-round use on the construction site.

Questions and answers

How does a laser sensor for cross-line lasers work?

A laser sensor (receiver) detects the cross-line laser beam that is invisible to the naked eye and signals its position with sound and on a digital display. This lets you work with the laser outdoors, in bright light and over longer distances, where the laser line is hard to see. The CLS-300 shows the deviation from level within a 70 mm window with an accuracy of 1.0, 2.0 or 5.0 mm.

Which lasers does the Nivel System CLS-300 work with?

The CLS-300 DIGITAL works with cross-line lasers that have a 10 kHz pulse frequency, that is the series produced from 2022 onwards. The receiver supports beams in four colours: red, green, blue and violet. It is not compatible with older 5 kHz lasers made before 2022, so before buying it is worth checking the year and version of your laser.

What is the difference between a laser receiver, sensor and detector?

Laser receiver, laser sensor and laser detector are three names for the same device that detects a laser beam and indicates its position. In construction practice they are used interchangeably. The CLS-300 is a digital receiver for cross-line lasers with a display showing the distance of the laser line from the centre of the sensor.

Does the CLS-300 detect green, red, blue and violet beams?

Yes, the CLS-300 DIGITAL receives beams in all four colours: red, green, blue and violet. One receiver therefore handles both cheaper red lasers and the more visible green lasers as well as newer blue and violet models, as long as they work at a 10 kHz frequency.

What range and accuracy does the CLS-300 sensor have?

The CLS-300 detects the beam within a 70 mm window and lets you choose one of three accuracy modes: 1.0, 2.0 or 5.0 mm. The beam reception angle is ±45°, which makes it easy to catch the signal even when the receiver is not perfectly aligned on the staff. The IP54 protection class allows work in dust and splashes.

How is the CLS-300 powered and is it suitable for outdoor use?

The sensor is powered by 4 AAA batteries, and an automatic shut-off after 10 minutes of inactivity extends the working time. The housing measuring 155 x 75 x 30 mm weighs 0.3 kg and mounts on a staff. The operating temperature range from -20°C to 50°C and the IP54 class make the receiver suitable for year-round outdoor work on the construction site.
