Description

Kit: Nivel System CL4G LCD crossline laser (green) + SJJ-M1 EX Tripod + CLS-300 DIGITAL Sensor

A ready-made kit for levelling in large halls and outdoors with a millimetre readout. The Nivel System CL4G LCD 4×360° crossline laser with a green 515 nm beam projects 2 horizontal and 2 vertical planes with ±2.0 mm accuracy at 10 m, has a 30 m range (70 m with a sensor), an LCD display and an 8000 mAh battery. The manufacturer adds the SJJ-M1 EX Tripod and the CLS-300 DIGITAL Sensor to the kit.

What is in the kit

The kit contains the Nivel System CL4G LCD crossline laser in its transport case plus the SJJ-M1 EX tripod and the CLS-300 DIGITAL sensor. The laser case also holds a TR-W target plate, two FTR-W floor targets, a CL-BR multi-adapter, an LF-1 lift, an Aku CL 8000 battery and a USB-C charger. Glasses are not included. With a green beam, GL-G glasses are useful. Buying the kit gives you components the manufacturer has matched to the CL4 LCD series.

SJJ-M1 EX tripod

The SJJ-M1 EX tripod weighs about 3 kg, has a 3D head and adjustable height from 0.62 to 1.82 m. The horizontal plane can therefore be set at worktop, window sill, socket or suspended ceiling height without propping the laser up. The 3D head lets you level the tripod on uneven ground, and the laser attaches through its 5/8″ or 1/4″ socket.

CLS-300 DIGITAL sensor

The CLS-300 DIGITAL sensor detects a 10 kHz beam in a 70 mm window and shows the line’s distance from zero as a number on its display, in 1.0 / 2.0 / 5.0 mm accuracy modes. A ±45° reception angle makes it easy to catch the signal, and the laser range grows to 70 m. The IP54 housing weighs 0.3 kg and runs on 4 AAA batteries between -20 °C and +50 °C. Choose it when you need a reading in millimetres rather than just a high or low signal.

The CL4G LCD laser in numbers

The CL4G LCD projects 4 planes of 360° (2 horizontal and 2 vertical) with a class 2 green 515 nm beam. Accuracy is ±2.0 mm at 10 m, working range 30 m, and 70 m with a sensor. The magnetic compensator levels the lines within ±3.0° and beeps when the laser is out of level. The 8000 mAh battery charges over USB-C in about 4 h, the housing is IP54 and the laser weighs 920 g. The LCD display shows the active planes and battery status.

What is new in the CL4 LCD series

Compared with the previous CL4, five things have changed. The top of the housing carries an LCD display showing the active planes, battery level and out-of-level status. Battery capacity has grown from 4000 to 8000 mAh. The laser gives an audible warning when it is outside the ±3.0° compensator range. A violet-beam CL4V LCD has joined the series. The glasses are no longer in the case, which now has room for an optional sensor with a bracket.

±3.0° compensator and slope mode

The magnetic compensator self-levels the lines within ±3.0°. When the laser stands too far off level, all active planes flash quickly and a beeper sounds. To mark lines at an angle, for example stairs or attic slopes, hold the LASER button for about 3 s with the power switch off: the pendulum is locked and the line blinks every 6–7 s as a reminder that self-levelling is disabled. Always transport the laser with the compensator locked.

Questions and answers

Which CL4G LCD kit should I choose?

The CL4G LCD kit is chosen for the type of work. The kit with the LP-36 pole (3.6 m spreader pole) is for suspended ceilings and drywall. The kit with the SJJ-M1 EX tripod (0.62–1.82 m) suits interior work at different heights. For halls and outdoor work, where the line is invisible, choose the kit with the tripod and CLS-5 sensor with LED readings or with the tripod and CLS-300 DIGITAL sensor with a millimetre readout. With a sensor the range grows from 30 to 70 m.

What is the difference between the CLS-5 and CLS-300 DIGITAL sensors?

The CLS-5 and CLS-300 DIGITAL sensors both pick up a 10 kHz beam in four colours and extend the laser range to 70 m, but they show the line position differently. The CLS-5 indicates it with LEDs and a beeper to 1.0 mm, weighs 0.15 kg and runs on 2 AAA batteries. The CLS-300 DIGITAL has a display showing the distance from zero in a 70 mm window, three accuracy modes of 1.0, 2.0 and 5.0 mm, weighs 0.3 kg and runs on 4 AAA batteries.

What is the LP-36 spreader pole used for?

The LP-36 spreader pole is an aluminium mast with a maximum length of 3.6 m that braces between floor and ceiling and holds the laser at the chosen height. It replaces a tripod where free floor space matters: installing suspended ceilings, plasterboard framing and wall cabinets. The pole needs no drilling and moves between rooms in seconds.

Which tripod is in the kit and how high will it raise the laser?

Kits 2, 3 and 4 include the Nivel System SJJ-M1 EX tripod, weighing about 3 kg, with a 3D head and height adjustment from 0.62 to 1.82 m. It lets you set the horizontal plane at worktop, window sill, socket or suspended ceiling height. The laser attaches through its 5/8 inch or 1/4 inch socket, and the LF-1 lift from the laser case handles fine height adjustment.

From what distance does a sensor pick up the CL4 LCD beam?

A CLS-5 or CLS-300 DIGITAL sensor picks up the CL4 LCD beam from up to 70 m when the laser runs in pulse mode, enabled with the PULSE button. The minimum distance between sensor and laser is 2 m, or 4 m in difficult conditions, because at close range the sensor may react to beam afterglow. Pulse mode works both in self-levelling and in slope mode.

What is in the CL4G LCD kit case, and are glasses included?

The CL4G LCD laser case contains the laser, a TR-W target, 2 FTR-W floor targets, a CL-BR multi-adapter, an LF-1 lift, an Aku CL 8000 battery and a USB-C charger. The kit also includes the LP-36 pole or the SJJ-M1 EX tripod, and kits 3 and 4 a sensor as well. The CL4 LCD series has no glasses. With a green beam, GL-G glasses are useful.
